Nele von Planta

BSc Student

Nele von Planta is a BSc student in Life Sciences at FHNW Muttenz and is conducting her bachelor’s thesis in the Virus Immunology Lab at the Swiss TPH. In her project, she focuses on the characterization and generation of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) for diagnostic applications. On the one hand, she investigates existing mAbs against the Dengue virus NS1 protein with de aim of identifying and optimizing serotyp-specific antibodies, particularly for DENV-2. On the other hand, she generates new mAbs against the biomarker bioactive adrenomedullin (bio-ADM) using hybridoma technology. For the functional characterization of the antibodies, she applies a range of immunological and molecular biology techniques including indirect ELISA, antigen-capture ELISA, Western blot and PCR-based sequence analysis. In addition she evaluates suitable antibody pairs for use in lateral flow assays (LFA).
